Report an Absence

New Process for Reporting an Absence: 4 Simple Steps

We have a new, easy way for families to let our school know when their student is absent! While we know regular attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your student for success, we also know that sometimes students must miss school for a variety of reasons. Next time that happens for your family, let us know through ParentVUE:

  • Login to ParentVUE

  • Click the “Report Absence” button next to the name of your absent student

  • Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation

  • Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence

Learn more or view step-by-step images and instructions. You can use this method to report an absence of up to 4 days. As a reminder, an absence of 5 days or longer requires families to submit a Notice of Pre-Arranged Extended Absence Form

If your child will be late or has a change of transportation home, please call the school office at Attendance Line 425-408-4910. If your child will be absent, please notify us through ParentVUE. If you're not able to use ParentVUE, call the Attendance line at 425-408-4910 or  email koattendance@nsd.org.

To report an upcoming absence of 5 days or more, please fill out and submit the Notice of Pre-Arranged Extended Absence Form.

Attendance Policy

At Kokanee Elementary School we emphasize the importance of prompt and regular school attendance. Students need regular attendance to profit fully from learning experiences offered in school. Students miss significant instruction when they are absent from school; therefore, any absence affects student learning. Frequent absences and tardies will be addressed by the principals.

The school may take a variety of actions to help improve a student’s attendance and timeliness, including the conversion of three unexcused or unacceptable tardies to an unexcused absence. The principals monitor rate of attendance and tardiness on an on-going basis. If there are extenuating circumstances causing increased tardiness and/or absences, please notify the office.

We value your child’s safety and would like to know when he/she is not in school. The school requires an email or phone message from the parent explaining the absence or late arrival. If the school does not receive notification of the child's absence, their attendance will be documented as unexcused.
